Jake Braun, CEO

Jake Braun is Chief Executive Officer of Cambridge Global Advisors.

Mr. Braun has over 15 years of experience in the development and implementation of strategic direction for complex, high profile national security initiatives. He works across technology, intelligence systems and transformational communications programs to develop solutions for clients in both the public and private sectors related to cybersecurity, government data analytics, and immigration. In his work for Cambridge Global Capital, he identifies investment opportunities and raises capital for cybersecurity and government data analytics start-up companies.

Prior to joining Cambridge Global, Mr. Braun was the Director of White House and Public Liaison for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) where he was instrumental in the passage of the unprecedented Passenger Name Record (PNR) Agreement, one of the largest big data agreements in history. The PNR agreement served to enhance data protection and address privacy concerns between the United States and the European Union. In addition, he worked on the development and implementation of the Homeland Security Advisory Council’s Task Force on CyberSkills. During his tenure at DHS, he advised senior intelligence staff on public engagement with state and local law enforcement related to domestic terrorism policy and directed the Department’s global marketing efforts to promote the US Customs and Border Patrol’s Global Entry Program. Mr. Braun also oversaw community relations and stakeholder engagement for DHS and the White House during the 2010 Deep Water Horizon Gulf Oil Spill.

Prior to his tenure as White House Liaison, Mr. Braun served on the Presidential Transition Team for the Obama Administration as Deputy Director for the National Security Agencies Review. During the Presidential Transition he oversaw agency review programs for all national security agencies including State Department, DOD, DHS, CIA, USAID, etc. and guided policy assessments from their inception to the President-Elect’s desk.

Throughout his career, Mr. Braun has worked extensively on security and economic issues in Egypt, Tunisia, Taiwan, Indonesia, Nigeria, and across the EU. Mr. Braun also designs and implements political campaigns in the U.S., Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe. Before coming to Washington, Mr. Braun served as the National Deputy Field Director to the 2008 Obama for America Campaign, overseeing an effort that utilized the most sophisticated grassroots, social media, data analysis and mobile engagement available.

In addition to his roles at Cambridge Global, Mr. Braun currently serves as a fellow at the Council on CyberSecurity, in the President’s Circle on the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, and as a strategic advisor to the Department of Homeland Security and the Pentagon on cybersecurity. He is also a faculty member of the University of Chicago’s Harris School of Public Policy where he teaches cybersecurity policy.

Mr. Braun began his career as a journalist for newspapers in Illinois and Taiwan. He holds an MA in International Relations from Troy St. University, an MA in Education from National-Louis University in Chicago, and a BA in Philosophy from Loyola University of Chicago.
